This was my first Rock n Roll Race and I LOVED IT!! The aid stations at every mile were so well stocked, I never carried my camelback with me at all! Lots of water, Gatorade, SIS gels and even bananas at some. Plus the volunteers were so amazing! They really need to be commended. The community support was also wonderful. People set up their own aid stations, orange slice stations and cheer stations! I honestly don't remember too many dead zones where you weren't getting love.
Now the couple of heads up for anyone wanting to run this race. HILLS, HILLS, HILLS! Even a hill at Mile 25, plus we had a headwind too. YIKES! Parking in Nashville was ridiculous. I paid $23 for the race expo day, and then I didn't even end up going to the headliner concert, because that night the city changed all of their parking to "Event Parking" and was charging $30!! You couldn't park at any of the meters either. SO be warned.
This was an amazing race and you can go to my blog to see my full video review! http://bipolarfatherathletemarathoner.blogspot.com/2018/04/my-bibravepro-review-of-2018-rock-n.html

I loved everything about this race EXCEPT the weather (no one can control that). I opted for my packet to be mailed to me ($15 extra) so I didn't have to stay the night in Nashville and could just drive in for the race. I wish more races had this option. As bad as the weather kept getting (I was getting flash flood warnings on my phone while running) the volunteers were AMAZING!! They not only withstood that crazy weather, but they offered such amazing encouragement to the runners. Seriously, I can't say enough how enthusiastic and encouraging they were for us runners. I had been preparing for hills, o the inclines didn't really bother me, but if you are not used to inclines, I would train on a setting of at least, 5 on a treadmill and you will be fine. Weather and all, this was a wonderful race with AMAZING swag!!

This was the HARDEST nad slowest Half marathon I have run and weather was to blame for everyone's trouble's. I do NOT blame race management in the 90 minute delay in starting, weather put them in a no-win situation. That being said, I think KDF did the best they could under less than ideal circumstances. I will run this race again

This was my first Spartan Race. When I pulled up, I realized that it was at a ski resort, so that meant nothing but hills. It not only was an amazing experience, it touched my soul. Spartan does a GREAT job of pre, during and post race amenities for the racers. You are made to feel like you are joining a family. The strangers around you at your start quickly become close friends as you help each other with the obstacles.

This was the first time I have run Carmel, but it WILL NOT be my last. From the expo, to the race bag, to the treatment of the runners in the entire city, this is one race weekend that makes magic for the runner. Being middle Indiana, it also means it is a flat course. Parking was less than 100 feet from the start/finish line which was GREATLY appreciated. This is a must race for new or experienced runners!
