Race day- Getting to the start line was quite a process because of the road closures. I took the monorail as far south as I could then walked in and out of all the hotels to get to Mandalay Bay. Since it was gusting winds up to 40mph I waited with my friend in the casino until it was time to get into our corral.

We got into the corral and realized that this was not the race to run fast, it would be a feat of running smart because of the severe headwind and rain we would have on the last 4 miles toward the finish. The race started and we south toward the Las Vegas sign and then made our way to the center of the strip. In years past I’ve heard there are lots of spectators. This year not so much because of the wind. All of the neon was flashing and the music was blasting, it was super fun. As we made our way to Old Vegas and the Pawn Stars Pawn Shop it started to get dark. There weren’t many lights. As we made a turn we saw a few people almost wipe out on manhole covers because of the rain earlier in the day. I was so happy to see the Clif Bar fuel station with lights and music. I can’t imagine how lonely the marathon would be if it were that dark the majority of the race.

Finish line- The finish chute was super organized compared to other Rock ‘n’ Roll Races. Even the remix and other medals line was quick.

Overall I enjoyed the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon! I wish the weather held up but overall it was super fun and worth doing to knock if off my bucket list.

Ran this race as part of the Rock N Roll Las Vegas Remix Challenge. It was a fun nighttime 5k. The course was a bit odd at the end with so many turns but other than that is was a fun way to stretch my legs before the half marathon the next day.

I highly recommend running it if you are in Vegas for an extra night and bought a RnR Tour Pass!

This race is a lot smaller than most RnR races so bib pickup was easy. The shirt was a Brooks technical tee that had a nice design but was a weird color.

The startling was well organized and the bag check was fast. I miscalculated my estimated time so I was in a fast corral and started right away.

Overall this is a decently flat course. The first part of the course is exciting. It goes through Gastown and the Chinatown Gate. By about mile 6 the course drops onto the Seawall which is a bit boring and windy. At mile 10 we entered Stanley Park and there are hills. Yes there are hills and the course gets narrow. I was expecting a few rolling hills but these are not. The last half a mile is flat and brings you to the Vancouver Rowing Club and the entrance to Stanley Park.

The finish line is a bit of a mess. There is a bottleneck at the finish line because there is a bridge on the walk way. When I exited it took me a bit to get water and then find my checked bag. The best part of this race is I ran a personal best half marathon. Not sure if I will go back and run it again since I am not a local. I do recommend it to anyone who wants to a run a smaller first time half marathon.

Ok, I might be a bit jaded by this race but overall it is an odd race.

The expo is pretty standard and it's easy to get you bib number. The stating line is a bit of a mess because of the layout of Seattle center. I recommend getting the VIP porta potty pass from Brooks, it saves you time!

Seattle has two major marathons: Rock N Roll in June and the Seattle Marathon at Thanksgiving. Both courses are very similar, especially for the full course. That being said, 2013-2015 the RnR courses were almost a reversed version of Seattle Marathon. You run toward Seward park through downtown Seattle and Rainier Valley, then run to the I-90 tunnel and then back through downtown and onto the viaduct. Honestly, the first 6-7 miles are a slog. For me they are hilly and borning. The I-90 tunnel is not the greatest, it's hot and very loud, the water stop is what keeps you going. Running down the on-ramp to the viaduct is a bottleneck the tunnel at the end of it is also loud and hot. The views from the viaduct are gorgeous!

The finish line is well organized and there's always plent of water and snacks. My only wish is the medal was a bit nicer. Many of the other RnRs have some sweet ones and Seattle is left out.
Run this race if you want a challenge not a PR. It's a very hard race to PR.

I've run this race a few times and the course is just great! It's an out and back with the turnaround point at the Seahawks training facility. I usually get bored running out and back courses but not here. The race start is pretty organized and the aid stations weren't too crowded. The best part of the race is running through VMAC. There's a DJ and an aid station which gives you a boost for the last part of the race.
I highly recommend this race for anyone who wants to challenge themselves or who is a hardcore Seahawks fan. The 12s are out in force with crazy outfits and jerseys every year.
