This race is a lot smaller than most RnR races so bib pickup was easy. The shirt was a Brooks technical tee that had a nice design but was a weird color.
The startling was well organized and the bag check was fast. I miscalculated my estimated time so I was in a fast corral and started right away.
Overall this is a decently flat course. The first part of the course is exciting. It goes through Gastown and the Chinatown Gate. By about mile 6 the course drops onto the Seawall which is a bit boring and windy. At mile 10 we entered Stanley Park and there are hills. Yes there are hills and the course gets narrow. I was expecting a few rolling hills but these are not. The last half a mile is flat and brings you to the Vancouver Rowing Club and the entrance to Stanley Park.
The finish line is a bit of a mess. There is a bottleneck at the finish line because there is a bridge on the walk way. When I exited it took me a bit to get water and then find my checked bag. The best part of this race is I ran a personal best half marathon. Not sure if I will go back and run it again since I am not a local. I do recommend it to anyone who wants to a run a smaller first time half marathon.
