Appleton is the most boring city to run through. However, the race itself is pretty good. It is a must do race if you are in Appleton for Thanksgiving. You can justify that second helping of mashed potatoes or pie.

Speaking of pie - you get a mini pie at the end of the race, which is a nice touch. You can also donate it to a local food pantry - which I choose to do each year.

I think this event is really great because it takes place in 10 locations in Wisconsin. A great way to get people active - even if they just do the 2 mile walk.

My first RNR race experience. My boyfriend (now hubby) Eric lived in Chicago in the summer of 2010. Our friends, Rachel and Brent had signed up for the race so we thought we should as well. DMV came along for the joy of running.

We didn't really know where the expo was and it took a while to get there, which was a huge miss. The course itself was different than it currently is as it ran along the south lake shore path.

My mom and her cousin had been at Soldier Field the evening before for a Bon Jovi concert so they came down to Grant Park to spectate. They were quite frustrated that spectating was difficult (I think it is better now). The post-race concert was Five for Fighting - which is the only music I have actually stayed and listened to after a race.

My friend Rachel and I enjoyed creeping on celebs that ran it this year including Al Roker, Kara Goucher, a dude from the Bachelor/ette and Guiliana Rancic.

My second 10k. Beautiful course and scenery through East Grand Rapids.

My only complaint would be that the last 1 or so miles was super tricky...you think you're coming in to the finish, but you turn into a neighborhood and pop out after making a loop. It tricks you!

We traveled from Michigan to Indiana with friends for this race. I will admit that I did not have an enjoyable time as I was suffering from breathing issues due to the humidity. It was 85 degrees with 100% humidity and overcast (thank goodness the sun wasn't out). The course was quite boring, nothing too exciting. Through some neighborhoods. Aid stations were OK. I remember it was my first time seeing Vaseline on a stick...I was really confused.

The finish area was probably the most exciting as you get to run into the Notre Dame stadium. Popcicles were AMAZING in the runner refresh area.

This was my second ever 5k. The course winds through Central Michigan University in Mt Pleasant Michigan. I was pleasantly surprised to set a PR despite going out too quickly. The slight inclines can be challenging, but overall pretty fun.
