I believe this was Night Nation's first time to Raleigh. The price was good - $30. The Party atmosphere of the "race" was really good. The music was playing pre-race, throughout the course and then there was a big party post-race. That part we really enjoyed.
The running part sucked. With almost 6000 people there it was impossible to run much of the course. The race is not timed, and it's optional to run the full 5k. In order to complete the full distance you make 2 loops of the course, which means you're running into runners just starting out as we all were released in batches. So I was quite disappointed by that.
However, knowing that now I would probably still sign up just for the PARTY.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this race. It was so much fun -- and fast. There's a few hills, but nothing too bad. I really enjoyed running through the streets of Durham. Really good atmosphere all round. Definitely signing up for this race again next year.
The t-shirts are great, and the medal was a functioning cow bell. It was funny to hear everyone rattling their cow bells through out the city after the race. After the race we visited the Farmer's market in Durham for some food from the food trucks.

One of the coldest races I've ever ran. Bloody freezing. So to see guys run this in just a pair of speedos is something else. This is a fun morning. Lots of people in costumes. I passed a guy about 2 miles in, wearing a full knight uniform, complete with chain-mail and a sword. He had a look of regret on his face.
I did attempt to eat the dozen doughnuts at the half way point, but I couldn't. It is so difficult. I managed about nine and then ran the remainder of the race. I have already signed up for next year, but I will probably not bother even trying the doughnuts this time and just enjoy the run itself. Hang on -- next time I'll have a stroller.... never mind.
