I signed up for the challenge, one mile on the sand on Saturday and half on Sunday. hermine had other plans and they had to cancel the mile. all swag was still given out and the expo was huge! I ran the mile in the hotel to earn the first medal.
the expo was huge as usual, and Brooks is always a fun visit. I got a great tank and some new kicks.
race morning there was very little traffic but the signs were a little misleading and we made a wrong turn. a volunteer freaked out us and smacked our car with his hand. yikes!
it was perfect weather and the course was mostly flat. well marked, and we got a glimpse of the ocean at the start and finish. running through the barracks was amazing and soldiers weremig high fiving us as we ran by! they also gave us orange slices. the spectators were handing out candy, ice pops, water, frozen grapes. it was amazing!
the finish was at the beach, and there was tons of food, drinks, chocolate milk. I got my medal and myou bonus bling with no issues, and there was music and shops open.
only cons were that they couldn't put up the signs or the Brooks guitar, but that was Hermine's fault, not RnR.
communication was amazing through out the weekend.
I would definitely run this race again!

the Shamrock Four Miler was my first race in a series, and I was excited to earn the medals because they would spell a message on the backs once you had them all.
the expo was on site on race morning, and the bib pick up was easy breezy, and the tee is sooooo comfy. It is still a favorite.
the course was beautiful, I thought it was hilly but it was my second race after moving here from Jersey, so it probably isn't that bad if you live here.
The water stations were well stocked and the volunteers and spectators were a lot of fun. lots of fun costumes and green was everywhere!
When we finished, there was no food left for the back of the pack runners and very little water. This became a trend for the whole race series. If you are a speedy runner, it's the race for you, but otherwise I would stay away.
the medal was beautiful and sparkly, especially for such a short distance.
After the race, you could get your pic with the Easter bunny, and some local companies we giving away samples of food, etc which was helpful since the race didn't have any.

the expo was held at the Ritz Carlton, which is a beautiful resort. the expo had some gear and some freebies by Munk Pack and Lorissa'so Kitchen. I waited on no line to get my bib, super comfy cotton tee, and Keychain.
since I didn't stay at the host hotel, I had to park at a school and walk to the start, which was roughly a mile. it was a beautiful walk but a little dark so early in the morning. the handout from the expo didn't mention the cross street but the website did. there were plenty of potties at the start and we began on time.
we started off in town but quickly entered a park for most of the run. the course was not closed, which I'm never a fan of, but I never felt unsafe. there werected plenty of police and volunteers directing traffic. the scenery was not to be beat and the course was well marked. the water stations were spaced well and with the exception of one, water was ready for us. I was back of the pack but never felt like it.
the last quarter mile was on the beach and the finish was lovely. the medal was a nice size, larger than I expected! only 24 for usher after me, but there was plenty of food, wine, tables, drinks, and music. the expo was set up at the finish and it was very classy. they even had massages!
the shuttle back to our cars was quick and efficient.
I loved every minute and cannot wait to go back!

this was my 3rdaughter year running this race and it never seems to improve. parking is never a problem and the course is gorgeous.
but
my friends goto lost because the turn wasn't marked properly and there was no volunteer to show you where to go. when we finished thereading was no water left and no food, yet spectators were overloaded with both because no one cared that they took it. this happened all 3 years. all.three.years.
the costumes are fun but the same couple won two years in a row for the same costume and they don't wait for everyone to finish before they judge.
not for the slow and steady, only got the fast!
