Old Wethersfield 5k is an almost flat 5k. The scenery is beautiful. The weather is unpredictable. It could be hot and humid, overcast and windy, or rainy. Be prepared.
The aid stations have water and Nuun. There are no port-a-potties on the course. There are more than ample port-a-potties in the field next to the parking lot and race area.
The 5k and 10k courses start and finish in the same areas. The race ends with a decline, sharp left, and a run in the park. You run on a dirt path, and follow it to the left and run under the arch.
There are awards that vary from year to year. What is nice is HMF added a disabled athlete catagory.
I ran the 10k in 2018. I will be running the 5k in 2019 (pacing a friend who is new to running).
I highly recommend this race.
