Unfortunately the Thompson Speedway Half Marathon and 5k is not going on. This was a unique race. You start and end the race on an actual race course (Thompson Speedway). There is a strong possibility of seeing race cars and/or unique exotic sports cars. The half marathon is $60. If you purchase the New England Race Package you get 16 races for $500 (all half marathon in 7 New England states..about $31.30 per race).
The race starts off running on the Thompson Speedway. After this you run an out and back loop. There are some hills, There is some nice scenery. There is 3 water stops (which turns into 6 because of the out and back).
The race director, Michael, and his family are out on the course. When you are crossing the finish line Michael's wife takes your picture. (The pictures are posted and you can upload them for free).
After the race there is lots of food and drinks. For the half every finisher recieves a medal. If you place you get a pint glass. I forgot when you cross the finish line you get a printout of your results.
We are hoping that 3C brings back the Thompson Half Marathon. It was the only half marathon in Connecticut, in December.

If you like running half marathons with a small town feel this is a race for you. Part of the race is on roads and part of the race is on a none technical trail. The roads are well kept and in some industrial area. The trails are scenic. Some roots (which I have the uncanny nack of tripping on at least one per race) and rocks.
Winter weather in the Northeast means be prepared for anything. The year I ran this race it rained. The trail became mud. (I am a challenged athlete so mud is no friend of mine.). This made the up hills difficult for me.
Like the other 3C races the aid stations manned with volunteers from the charity, friendly, and supportive. They were well stocked.
The food at the end of the race was typical 3C post race goodies. I am happy with a banana, pretzels, peanut butter, and a bagel.
There is plenty of parking. You get a tech shirt and finisher's medal. If you place in your division you win a pint glass with the race logo on it.
If you are looking for a half marathon during November I recommend this one.

The Twin Reservoirs Half Marathon is another 3C race. In 2016 3C Race Productions had a New England Race Package for half marathons (discount price if you paid for the entire series. It was well worth the price.) Like all the other 3C half marathons, participants got a tech shirt and finisher's medal. If you place (overall or in your division) you won a pint glass with the race logo in it.
This race was brutal. It was a loop course, hot and humid day, no breeze, and the aid stations ran out of water. Fortunately for me, and my teen, we use hydration packs so we did not have to deal with this. Some of this was poor planning, but nobody expected the weather to be this brutal.
The course runs through a park so some of the course is on paved roads and other parts are on sand and rocks. It is not technical by any means. You run around a trail, there is some shad in parts, by lakes, and into a parking lot. You run 3 loops. By the end of the second loop you might feel like why am I doing this? Remember you have 1 more loop to go. You can do this. (There are no hills and very little elevation gains).
The race is attached to a charity partner. They provide the volunteers for the aid stations (if I am remembering correctly there were 3 aid stations). The volunteers are polite and supportive.
There was ample access to parking. After the race there is the customary 3C Race Production foods. As I have stated before I am happy with a bagel, peanut butter, banana, and pretzels. There was water and Gatorade available after you finished the race.
One last item, there was a person taking pictures at the finishing line. All photos were uploaded onto a website (and Facebook). You could access and download your picture(s) for free. (This is one of the nice benefits of 3C). It is on the smaller side of the race spectrum. As with the other 3C races I would definitely run this race again.

Unfortunately the Lime Rock Park Half Marathon is not occurring at this time. I ran it for 2 years. It was one of the most challenging courses I have run on.
You start off on the Lime Rock Speedway (an actual race course). It is in June so it's hot and humid. You are going to bake while you run you first mile plus (and your final mile plus).
Once you get off the race course property all you do is run up. You keep thinking how much longer can this go on?
Around mile 6 you make a left, pass an aide station, and start to head downhill. You are thinking finally no uphill. The volunteers are cheering for you. They are shouting it's all downhill from here.
You start running faster. One problem is you have to climb up the hill on the way back.
Once you are down the hill you go out about half a mile on a dirt and rock road. There is a small decline and then incline when you hit mile 6.55.
Now you are running the course in reverse. You run about a half mile and hit the hill. Your quad muscles are screaming once you hit the top of the hill.
It is all downhill until you get to the race course. If you can handle it you can get a good pace going downhill.
You will take a right and enter the race course. At this point you see exitic cars (I saw Porches...911 custom cars and Lamborghinis). You bake on the final lap and cross the finish line.
There are 3 water stops, aid stations,. Which turns into 6 because of an out and back course.
The race director, family, and volunteers are great. The race director chooses great charities to give to (this race is Strong to Serve). Every runner gets a tech shirt and finishers medal. Division winners get a pint glass. Everyone gets a printout of their results after you cross the finish line. There is a lot of food and drinks post race.
I am hoping that this race is brought back soon. The picture is the elevation map for the half marathon.

Like all 3C races there is plenty of parking, tech shirt, and finisher's medal. If you place in your division you win a pint glass with the race logo on it.
The race is hilly and challenging. Even more so when you are a challenged athlete.
The weather can be a factor impacting the race. Could be warm or cold, humid or not, windy or not. It was cold and windy when I ran this race.
The course is an out and back. It is somewhat senic. The roads are open to traffic. Be careful. The race has some hills so be prepared.
At the end of the race they had a photographer and they posted the pictures. You can download the pictures for free. Also there was food at the end of the race. I got my banana, bagel, peanut butter, and pretzels.
I loved this race. I wish it was closer to me so I could run it again.
