This was the first year for this race, but it is put on by Colorado Runner Magazine, who does plenty of races in and around Denver. From registration to the expo, and start to finish, it was well organized. I ran the 5k and the route was clearly marked and had a mix of concrete and wide dirt trails. Salisbury Park was a great location for the race. The course made it easy for my wife and kids to spot me at multiple points without having to walk too far. Parking was a piece of cake, but that may change as the race becomes more popular.

"Essential event in the Kingwood/Atascocita community"

This race started when the bridge between Kingwood and Atascocita was first completed and ever since then it has been a major event for athletes, families and everyone in between in the community.

This is one of the most family friendly races I have ever raced. They have a 1/2 mile kids race, a 1/2 mile special needs kids race, a 1 mile race and a 5k family walk/run. You can be as competitive as you want in this race.

The registration was simple, the parking was easy enough for me. We lived close enough to walk.

The course was flat, let's face it, it's eastern Texas. That made it a great course for PR or an easy stroll. The scenery is some of the most beautiful in Kingwood. You start in the canopy of pine trees and venture out into the openness above Lake Houston.

The crowd was dense near the start and finish lines making it a high energy race. It made it that much easier to sprint to the end and grab a PR.

The weather is perfect for a 5k, especially in February.

I would recommend this to anyone in the area.
