This race is sponsored by Hermes. This is an annual race and this it is in it's 10th year this year. It was hosted on Saturday, April 26th at 8:30AM
Packet pick up was the evening before the race. It was at Crocker Park in the Dick's Sporting Goods. It was very quick and easy to find and locate. The lines were not long, the workers working the expo were very friendly, full of smiles, and full of helpful knowledge. There was a virtual race bag that included tickets to a local sports team, a really awesome tech tshirt, fitted for women as well with "Race Like A God" on them. They were grey with white writing. Wish that maybe there was a pink shirt for the females but I'm still very happy with the shirt.
I live very close by to the start of the race, Edgewater Park, so I walked to the start of the race. I arrived about 4 minutes before the gun went off. There was great music at the start and a very large crowd. I believe the race had about 2,000 runners. There was an option to do a relay as well, the switch would happen at mile 5. I had to run without music for this race because I couldn't find my headphones so I was very alert to other runners, noise, scenery for this race.
The course went out onto Lake Rd in Lake Rd, then looped back down Lake Rd and utilized the new roundabout walkaway to go up to Detroit Rd and then back to the other walk way and down into Edgewater Park where the finish line was awaiting. The scenery was fabulous at the start and at the finish due to Lake Erie and views of downtown Cleveland being right there. The city view of Lakewood is not bad either, but I see that view daily on my runs.
There were multiple water stations placed perfectly when you needed one. They even had stations that supplied engergy gels, this was fantastic as I typically use energy gels on my runs over 6 miles. This was my first race that I have ran that had stations to fuel up along the way.
Overall, I was extremely happy and satisfied. The course was pretty flat, minimal hills. The hills that were there were extremely short and easy to get up and over. The finish line running right towards the lake was amazing! I enjoyed the view there the best!

What better way to bring in St. Patricks' Day then with a 5 mile race.
The course goes through downtown Cleveland. It was a very hilly terrain. It starts and finishes right by St. Malachi Church and is a very fun event to do annually.
We were given long sleeve shirts at our race pick up. Again this was a Hermes sponsored race, so their pick up location was at Dick's Sporting Goods at Crocker Park.
This was my first year running this race and I will definitely make it an annual event and get more friends to join me next year.

This was the first race of the running 2014 season! I had not done this race before so was attempting to reach my goal of trying out some new races this year, what better way to start then with this one!
It was in an area called Tremont. It had a bit of a hilly terrain and it went through the Tremont neighborhood which is very quaint and cute. We have the Christmas Story house in this area of Cleveland. This is an annual race sponsored by Hermes.
I think that Hermes does a great job sponsoring races and I enjoy every race of theirs that I join.
Parking for this race was not very easy if you don't know the neighborhood. The start/finish was by the greek orthodox church and parking was in and around the neighborhood which can be confusing if you're not from the area. I luckily am and had no problem finding the race.
It was a very chilly day and had some light snow coming down on us the whole time we were running. This made the streets and running up the hills a little bit slippery and slowed my pace down. However, I started off right where I left last year and finished in under 30 minutes. This boosted my self esteem greatly! I can't wait to do another 5k and hope to get it to around 25 minutes. My goal is to win 1-3rd place in my age range in a 5k race this year! Let the races begin!
