Had a lot expectations for this one but fell short on my end. Drove down from PA and stayed at Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center which was steps away from the start line. We saw the marathoners start early from our balcony. The expo was very small with maybe two members. Swag included cotton t-shirt, a tumbler, medal of course and a trucker hat at finish. It was a super flat, out and back course but over half the course on crushed gravel trail in Cape Henlopen state park and that messed with my pace and and I was soon losing energy. The crowd support was minimal until the very end. The post party food was amazing which included pizza and pasta buffet sponsored by Grotto Pizza. It was nice to hang around keep cheering for the rest of half and full marathon finishers.

the best pacing team led me to a new PR! It was a super cold day, had no expectations, started with the 2 hour pacing team. Right at mile 2 someone stepped on my shoe and it came off! I told my friends to go ahead and i had to go back for my shoe as I was putting it on knowing I wont even make the 2hrs one of the pacers came back for me and said if I can sprint to catch up I'm not out yet, so that what we did! They encouraged throughout, kept us engaged and the miles flew by! The course was amazing, the crowd support was so friendly and awesome the aide stations were plenty with a surprise Coke at mile 11 ( of course I drank that) At mile 10 the pacers advised that teh course was flat and then downhill finish and if we feel like it to leave them, we took up on that and took off and that downhill finish gave us the unexpected PR of 1:57:16!!! Love the fleece blanket after finishing!!

We picked up the bib and t-shirt at a running store in DC, there was no expo.

My two friends and I stayed at a partner hotel to make use of the shuttle to start area. Parking would have been very difficult.

The pre race was so fun! We took pictures by the Lincoln memorial and The Washington Monument. The organizers had planned a fun dance warm up and a yoga stretch.

The start was easy lined up by pace. Nice crowd and great course. The course was pretty flat. Not too much crowd support expect in couple of places.

Nice medal at the finish and snacks! It was a cold day, but we hung around for either a me up refresher or hair braiding! Overall we had a good time!

My first road trip with friends for a race and second state! Best expo ever and photo opps. Stayed in partner hotel in Kentucky side and walked about a mile to start line. Porta potties inside corrals was a plus. Great start for me and it was fun running through Ohio/Kentucky border on the bridge. Started out too fast and then couldn't recover after the continuous elevation gain, a PR didn't happen but had so much fun and hung out at the after party with all the post race food and our drinks for a long time! Very well organized from registering to the end of the race!!

A repeat half for me and a PR! first time was in 2015 as my first half ever! Rolling hills, love running through Hershey Park and giving High Fives to kids at Milton Hershey School! My son participated in kids race the day before and we picked up our package. Enough porta potties at the start and although not corraled its was a very smooth start. Aide stations throughout and even a chocolate stop at mile 11! Nice finish at the stadium and easy to get out, only downside it the oatmeal raisin cookie when you expect a chocolate chip :)
