SO Dissapointed. I had such high hopes for this marathon but it turned out to be the worst marathon i have ran thus far. So lets go over the pro vs cons FYI this is for the LAKESIDE marathon portion of this race weekend
Pro:
1. Free Race Photos printed off. It was the coolest race photo ever taken it could be on runners world ....good job
2. It was at Lake Tahoe some of the views were very pretty

Con:
1. Running with no shoulder and 60mph trucks coming at you the entire way. Litterally you could touch them. if older people were in this race i would be affraid they could get swept off their feet into oncoming traffic

2. Race was short per my watch by alot and no mile markers on the last part of the race that i could remember

3. Horrible Swag i mean it was out of the 90s shirt and duffle bag
4. EXPO was at a bar and you got a bib thats it
5. THE COURSE MAP IS BACKWARDS ...they had the GREEN arrow as the finish and the RED square the start. I booked the AirB&B at the start and almost went to the finish the morning of the race. luckily i heard someone talking about the start being around the corner as i was walking out of the bar/expo......i had to arrange a ride last min to the start this was a huge inconvenience. the people at the expo were like " yeah you count down the miles " I have never seen this.

6. Race Director emails way too much prior to race.

Hands down worst race i have ever run.

Great crowd support. its a small town but i feel like the entire city comes out to support the runners. I have heard from so many runners how good of a race this was going into it and i wasn't disappointed. Its mostly flat with a few underpasses to push thru. I would book a hotel close by well in advance as they sell out quick. Also syncing your gamin prior to the race is idea as you start inside the dome.
Really Enjoyed this one

I signed up for this race because i needed Kansas checked off. I actually met a ton of fellow 50 staters from all over. The course was rather nice rolling paved paths. We had great weather but friends said it usualy rains. My only gripe was that the sponsor Garmin was lacking at the expo and finish. I expected more from them.

I would recommend.

Fast Flat Touristy Town Race.

I am not into touristy towns but this race didn't disappoint. We dealt with 40mph wind gusts. but great weather otherwise. Its very flat great race for first timers. I would suggest to destination racers. Its in the shoulder season so the beach inst too warm but flights and hotels are extremely affordable.

the Swag is very nice the tumbler and sweatshirt i still wear to this day!

We chose this marathon 100% because of the medal. SO many running friends have done this race. The course is a 2 loop course which isn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. It has some fun hills and prepare for some rain we got down poured on. The Aid stations were great! don't miss the pickle juice. There wasn't a town of crowd support but then again it was raining all weekend. They gave us finisher towels which was a plus.

I would recommend!
