I won free registration for this 5K run through Yelp with the BF. Since it was a Halloween run, we decided to dress up in matching Super(wo)man shirts. Though I thought we were cute, we obviously were outdone by many other creative costumes.

This run took place at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia. It's a bit awkward to get to..I think my GPS directed me incorrectly. There was also hardly any parking / side streets. We ended up parking in the gym lot (whoops).

There was no expo; bib pick up was prior to the run. I didn't recall seeing any porta potties. I actually asked someone in the building and they let me use the restroom. Though it was a single bathroom and it was a long wait.

It was a timed run but by clock not tab. So if you wanted a fighting chance of being in the top finishers, you had to fight to the front. The route was all around the cemetery that spiraled up. OMG, the hills. The elevation was killing me and my calves were burning. I recall at least one water station.

There were free race pictures but they were limited. Glad that I found one with me and the bf in it. Costume runs are fun because they keep you entertained as you run but this race.. Oof, the hills. I'm haunted (almost literally) by those hills.

One of my gfs signed up for the Phillies 5K run and asked me to join her. I wasn't a frequent runner at the time but I agreed. The price of the 5K was around $50, which I don't mind but others have considered pricey.

The route is around the stadiums of the Philadelphia teams. You get to run by the Lincoln Financial field for the Eagles and the Citizen Bank stadium for the Phillies. I think we passed by the Wells Fargo center for the Flyers but I'm not sure. The run was pretty flat and fast. Though that morning was cold and rainy.

There were a decent amount of spectators to cheer us on. I missed the second and third mile markers so the run felt longer.

The perks:
-In the swag bag, you got a dri fit shirt and some random goodies.
-You do get two free tickets to a Phillies game but you have to pick those up at the stadium.
-At the end of the race, you get to walk inside the stadium and take pictures with the Phantic.
-They also had an area where you could get your unofficial race time.
-Lots of free parking, though the traffic was a bit chaotic after the run.
-Medal in the shape of home base that I thought was cute.

It was a fun race only because I actually used the free tickets afterwards and the overall experience was good. I think otherwise, it wouldn't be worth the price tag to just run.
