I know, it's my fault for signing up for a fad fun run. But I was trying to help a gf motivate her sister to start running. So I signed up to support them. I think the registration was about $40 but I had a $5 off coupon.

There wasn't an expo but the bib pick up was at City Sports. Literally, all you got was the bib and safety pins. The only nice perk was that City Sports offered 20% any item (even including the premium brands like Nike!). I went during lunch; there was no line.

About a week before the run, I get an email that they are moving the race location from Ben Franklin Parkway to the Please Touch Museum area. This was inconvenient because we were in walking distance from the BFP. So now we had to carpool to the race.

Originally, they offered multiple waves, but on race day, they only had two. Ours was the 8 am wave and not the 8:20 am wave. But as we got near the Please Touch Museum area, we couldn't find any parking. We ended up parking near some residential area side street.

The porta potty situation was fine. No long lines for the bathroom.

The starting line area was weak. The emcee didn't motivate us or pump us up. The music was absolutely terrible. We were promised 90s music throughout the run. I barely heard anything! I ended up putting on Pandora on my phone and turning it up.

The course was nice; I've raced on this route before and you do see some nice sights. I think the Japanese house is in this area. And someone was taking wedding photos too.

I recall one or two water stations during the race. One was for Kool-Aid. There was Tang at the end of the race.

This was an untimed race. A nice perk was the free race photos they offered. There was a decent amount of photographers throughout the course.

The fanny pack at the end of the race was not what I expected. It did not look like on the picture on the website. They offered two colors: pink and orange (I think). I got a hideous zebra print slap bracelet. I got two little warheads, a fruit roll up (even though website said fruit by the foot), a packet of pop rocks and I was missing my handi-snack. There were maybe three vendor tables out for the race: Vita coco, Kind and St. Judes. I really wished the music situation was better.

This was my first Broad Street 10 Mile Run. Unfortunately it was the week following my half marathon. I definitely was not recovered from that.

I think this was the largest race that I participated in (40,000 runners). While it was nice to see so many people in Philadelphia bonding and running together, I hated having to weaving in and around so many people. I definitely should have given a more accurate pace time. I got stuck with the largest corral at the end.

I picked up my packet at the expo during lunch and it was ridiculously packed. There was no direction from the staff. They separated us in lines and it was unfair how they let one side in even if those in the other side were waiting longer. *Know your bib number before you go. It will save you waiting in line.

I upgraded to the tech shirt for $15. While it wasn't that appealing, the line was the regular shirt wrapped around and around. So it definitely was good to bypass that. There were a good amount of vendors to check out.

Race day: There is free ride on the Broad Street subway (Orange) to the starting line. Imagine being a sardine, that's exactly how it was. Try to jump on the express line. At the starting line, there were porta potties but the lines were very long.

The course was straight down Broad Street until the Navy Ship Yard. There were some entertainment and lots of people with signs. Though people say it's mostly downhill, there is a noticeable incline in the route.

The finish line is not where you see the Navy Ship Yard sign. Don't get your hopes up too early. I think there was another .25 mi left. There were so many people running, don't expect a good picture of yourself at the finish line.

The medal was nice and pretty this year. But once you get your medal, you head into a tent to get your food bag. I finished earlier than my friends so I was fine. But my one friend did not get a food bag because people were taking multiple bags and there were all gone! The staff didn't even pull the tickets off the bibs.

Make a plan with your friends to meet somewhere beforehand because so many people couldn't get a signal on their phones, myself included. If you took the subway, unfortunately you have to walk about a mile back to catch the train but it's free for the runners.

This one my first official 15K run and I had not run this distance before. So I was a bit intimidated but excited. The bib packet pick up was a breeze, although Philadelphia Runner was also having a bib pick up for another race. So that was confusing for about a minute. There, I got the tech hoodie (which is nice but ran a bit small) and the bag with some chocolate goodies.

The day of the race was pretty easy. Though I say this as a Philadelphian. We had no issues with getting to the start line. I came with a group so we were all together at the N corral. The route is one that I'm familiar with and the view is nice. You get to run along the river and take in the scenery. The mile markers were very visible and a good amount of water stations. They even had a chocolate station but not sure I would actually eat that during the race.

While the route is pretty flat, there is an incline coming near the finish line. It's right before you see the underpass.

After you finish, the lines went quickly to pick up your hot chocolate / fondue cup. Unfortunately they are cheapy plastic. The design is nice though and the hot chocolate was delicious after the run.

I missed out but they are giving out medal for the runs starting the latter part of 2014. Chocolate bar shaped medals!

This was my first half marathon experience from out of state. The commute wasn't too bad until we reached the stretch of road to get downtown. The lanes dropped to one lane due to construction and that was a big headache. We stayed at a hotel partnered with Nike and it was right by the starting line. This was super convenient, especially after the race. You have a nice hotel bathroom close by instead of a porta potty.

Race packet pick up went quickly the day before the race. There were a lot of staff checking people in and t-shirt pick ups were separate from the bibs. The Expo was crowded but had a small number of vendors and stations. The best was the Luna sign making area but the staff kept telling us to come back because it was a fire hazard for the line to wrap around that long. We came back and the line was even longer! UGH!

The Nike Georgetown store had a wall with everyone's name who was participating. This was a fun photo op. There were also a lot of race clothing for people to buy at the store. Definitely buy something here if you want clothing. There was another pop up store after the race finish line with gear that had "Finisher" on it. But the lines were absolutely ridiculous and I didn't bother to wait.

The course was fairly flat but I definitely felt some minor elevation throughout. The route showcased a lot of monuments and notable buildings.

I used RunKeeper while I was running and it cut out while we went underneath the tunnel. It came back on but then reported the wrong distance.

A cool thing about this race was the real time tracking that Nike made available so your friends and family can check where you are and your timing. Also cool was the free race photos they offered. Unfortunately they could not find any photos of me! (Do I not exist??) With some investigative skills, I was able to check my ranking and find pictures of me in other people's photos. But it was really disappointing not having any great photos of myself throughout the entire race. And I wasn't the only one with this issue. I would have rather paid for a photo of myself.

I also noticed a pacer during the race holding a sign with her pace. This was a nice touch since my RunKeeper was off so I knew when I would finish if I stayed with her.

At the end of the race, you have to wait in a long line to get your Tiffany's necklace in place of a medal. This is why the race registration was more expensive than other half marathons. There was also a line to take a picture with the tuxedo wearing men. Don't they know we all have jello legs after running 13 miles?

All in all, it was a memorable race with a pretty necklace. But I don't know if I would run this race more than once, especially at the $180ish price range.

This was a good starting race for me. I've done a few 5ks at this point and was ready to kick it up a step. So an 8K was a nice gradual step. This race is on the Saturday before the Philadelphia Half and Full Marathon. You feel the excitement of the weekend during the expo without having to run a full or half. Bib pick up went quickly. The Rothman 8K pick up is separate from the other races.

You get a cotton shirt, some stickers and goodies. The expo had some pretty cool vendors.

The start line for the race was the usual starting by Eakins oval and I walked over from City hall. No problems with getting there on Septa. The route is pretty flat except near the end, there is a bit of an incline to the finish line. Mayor Nutter was there to give out high fives.

A nice scenery along the river with plenty of water stations. Finish line had refreshments and did give out the foil wraps, though it wasn't really necessary. A fun, quick 5 mile run. Though you don't get a medal, they do let you download a finisher's certificate online.
