The only tough part of this race is the parking. Once you figure that out and you cross the start line you're in for a treat. You get to see the best of South Beach and enjoy parts not normally shown on TV during sporting events. Nothing beats the sunrise, running along the water or the competition on the course. The crowd during the final mile is fabulous, cheering you on and inspiring a fast finish. The celebration after is one of the best too.

This year it was hot, but it was a phenomenal race. Aside from a drawbridge at mile 2, the course is flat. It runs along the beach and there is a surprise park around mile 6. The one downfall is the route is wide open - no trees, shade, etc. That hurt during the heat. But this is a must race especially for northerners wanting to escape the snow and bitter cold the winter brings

This is my hometown race so the course has a special place in my heart. I don't take it for granted even though I train on it most weekends. The 2017 expo was horrendous. Long lines, disjointed, poorly organized. It was the first time at Marlins Stadium and it was because the Miami Beach Convention Center was under construction, so I'm hoping for better next year. The race was raining and cold, but I loved it. The first half is always phenomenal running through Miami Beach, seeing cruise ships, and runner support. The second half can be barren at times. But I was expecting that. Its a fun flat course that can test you mentally. I must say I set a PR by 33 minutes.
