The FroYo 5k started at 9AM, but I always worry about parking and race morning packet pick-up, so I wanted to leave early. This was a local race, but it was at a park that I'd never been to before. I'm glad I left early because I *may* have gotten a little lost on the way. And I was *so* close to the park. So close that I was on part of the course.

There was still plenty of parking, but I did hear some people, who arrived later, complain about the parking situation, so maybe it was a little tight overall.

Packet pick-up was a breeze, but again, I was there pretty early. The lines did get much longer, but the volunteers that were directing people were great. The swag was a bit different from most races - no shirt! You got sunglasses and a billed hat, instead. The sunglasses were awesome, but the hat was a bit misshapen. The medal was pretty freaking awesome, as well.

This course was not flat, and I'm kind of a flat running girl. Uphills make it hard to breathe; downhills hurt my knees (and I fear that I'll fall). But after about the first mile, and slowing down too much on the uphills for my liking, I decided that no matter what, I would try to push myself on the downhills at least. Something I rarely do.

The course was a little short, closer to 3 miles than 3.1, but I was still very happy with this race overall.

After the race, it was time for FroYo! That was the point of the race afterall. I finished early enough in the race, that the line wasn't too long. It was a pretty sweet set-up, too. You filled out a little slip with the kind of froyo you wanted + the toppings. Then you queued up, handed your slip to the volunteer, and walked away with a delicious reward. I got cheesecake FroYo with a couple toppings (gummy bears and ???). It was good, but maybe not the best FroYo I'd ever had.

I would definitely recommend this race. The swag was super fun; the course was challenging, and the medal and froyo were sweet reward.

Of course, I believe they changed the location for 2016, so it won't be as hilly.
