This race is a Half marathon only. It is also the first race of the three races in the Soul Half Marathon Series.

Expo: I'm not sure if I would really call it an expo. Bib pickup is over 3 days in 3 different cities. you can pick up your bib in either Bakersfield, Fresno, or Visalia. I think you can even pick it up on race day.

Aid Stations: The aid stations are placed about every 3 miles and offer water and an electrolyte drink.

You saddle up in historic downtown Clovis for your journey around this great city. The looped course is both scenic (you start in the city, then head out to the county side, then head back to the city.) and flat so you will be able to kick your boots for a really fast finish time. Plenty of close parking, road management was phenomenal, and there was a great positive atmosphere. Heck, even one of the motorcycle cops was using his megaphone and encouraging us up the road. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a fun race with the possibility of a PR.

Swag: Technical Running Shirt, Fleece Blanket with Race Logo & Design, Running Hat with Race Logo, Event Mason Jar, Great Finisher's Medal

The expo is fairly large but packed into a small space. add in all the runners and it can get crowded real quick.

Bib and shirt pickup is easy to get through. Unfortunately, some of us didn't get our shirts as they ran out of multiple sizes. I'm not sure how that could happen at a race of this size but it did.

Race day parking is kind of crazy. If you want to park close then you should plan on arriving early. The first two lots I pulled into were full, so I had to park at the convention center. They have shuttles that run to the start line, but since it took a while to find parking I ended up having to start with the last corral.

The race course is primarily on PCH which affords great ocean views. For the most part this is a flat course. There are a couple hills around the 3-4 mile mark.

Water Stations- the race has a lot of water stations, they're roughly every mile. During the last half of the race the stations were running out of water/cups.

The crowd support is great and the views are nice.

The only negative thing I can say about this race, besides the fact that they ran out of shirts, is that there was no fruit left when I finished. I saw multiple people walking around the finish line with gear check bags full of fruit. I get that people are hungry after running, but don't hoard all the fruit. other people might want some too

This event has a Full Marathon, Two separate Half Marathons, and a Relay.

The packet pickup was at the Vets Hall in Downtown Clovis, which was easy to get to and well organized.

Race participants received a short sleeve race shirt, and your bib. The bib had a spot on the top for you to write your own name or message in. You also receive a long sleeve technical half zip at the finish! (1/2 only. Full marathon received a jacket).

The Finish Line offers an assortment of food for the finishers. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, coffee, hot chocolate, ice cream sundaes, fruit.

I ran the Clovis Half, the course wasn’t bad. You run on a few city streets until you hit the bike path. You run on the bike path until about the 6 mile mark then you run through a neighborhood for about ½ mile then loop back onto the bike path and head back to the finish line.

I heard The Fresno Half Marathon course is pretty challenging. People said it felt like they were running uphill the entire time.

The course support was great; plenty of aid stations, and the volunteers awesome.

The only negative thing I can think of is the half mile corridor the runners have to go through to get to the recovery area

This event includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5K run, Mayor’s Walk, and a Kid K run.

The registration fee was reasonable at $70.

At packet pick up you will pick up your bib and race shirt. I thought the expo was fairly small. I was in and out in less than an hour.

If you’re coming from out of town I would recommend staying at the host hotel (Hyatt Valencia). It is literally right in front of the start line.

If you dislike hills like I do then you’re going to hate the first mile. That first mile is all uphill! After you turn on Tourney road its smooth sailing. Somewhere around the 2.5 mile mark it felt weird cutting through the parking lot of some apts. to get to the bike trail. You run on the bike trails for most of the race. On this day I found it to be quite peaceful. I zoned out for most of my run.

The volunteers were awesome, there was plenty of aid stations, and a lot of crowd support at the Start, Finish and even along the course.

I’m not sure what it is about this event apart from the others that I ran, but I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be back to run it again in 2016

This is a medal race for the California Half Marathon Series. If you are running the series.

This is the third and final race in the Soul Series.

You start at Lake Ming, then continue through Hart Park. After exiting Hart park you head up Alfred Harrell Hwy. right around mile ten you head up the hill to the bluffs. The hill is about a mile long and you gain about 200' in elevation, but overall its not a bad climb. You then head towards the finish line while overlooking the bluffs and the oilfields below, the winding course continues past Bakersfield College and then hits the flat streets of downtown, ending with a Kern County Museum finish!

Parking: Parking is near the finish line at Sam Lynn Ballpark. There is also parking at the museum. (Since the course is a point to point you have to sign up for the shuttle bus to take you to the start line)

Aid Stations: The are aid stations about every 3 miles. They have plenty of water/electrolytes, I think a few even had some fruit.

Swag: Judgment Day finisher's medal, Judgment Day Hooded Sweatshirt, Hot Breakfast at the finish line.

If you complete the Soul Series you will pick up additional swag.

Soul Series Swag: Soul Series Medal, Soul Series Pullover, Custom Head Buff Covering, Fluid Performance Drink.
