This was my first experience running the Lucky 7 Relay, a 21k run divided into 3 7k segments. Each segment start was separated by an hour with starts at 8,9 and 10am. I liked this format although, on this date the wind was strong leaving people the challenge of staying warm.

The course itself loops the historic Citadel Hill in downtown Halifax the view can't be beaten if you have time to take it all in. Each participant must do 6.5 laps around the Citadel, this became a little mundane after a few laps. There were two water stations set up along the route if you required them.

Parking for this event did not seem to be an issue. I arrived early enough that I was able to park at the base of the hill and only had to walk a short distance to the race start.

What makes this race unique besides the fact that it is run as a relay is its medals. The Lucky 7 medals are magnetized allowing you and your teammates to put them together forming a circle. I realize this is more gimmick than anything else but it's a nice feature nonetheless.

I would definitely recommend this race to anyone who hasn't done it. It's a fun event giving you the opportunity to put a team of friends or family together. Although we didn't, the RD encourages costumes and hands out prizes for the best ones. I forgot to mention that this race also gives cash prizes for finishers 7,77 and 777.

The Dartmouth Natal Day Road Race has become a fixture of my racing season. This race is made up of a 2 mile loop and offers racers the choice of either doing a 2 mile or completing 3 loops and completing the 6 mile. The course scenery is amazing you will see everything that Dartmouth has to offer. You will run along one side of Sullivan Pond, through residential areas where its residence offer great encouragement to the runners and than you will finish up in Dartmouth's vibrant downtown. As this is where the start and finish are this area is always packed with spectators who's noise will help you climb the steady grade to the finish.

The elevation of this course is what I would describe as rolling, there are no great elevation changes and what changes there are are gradual in nature. The climb to the finish can be a little daunting when you are on your third trip up it but knowing that the finish is in sight and with the noise from the crowd you'll find the energy to make it.

If you are looking for awesome swag than this is not the race for you, this race is about much more than the swag. You receive a technical t shirt with your registration and there has been years when medals have been given out although this isn't always the case. I'm not sure how they decide whether to give out medals or not.

Last but not least I need to mention that this is one of North Americas oldest road race, 2016 will be its 110th anniversary and for a $20 registration you won't hear anyone there complaining.
