This was my first big-city race and I loved it! I'm grateful for the ability to stay with a friend who had run the race a few times, and with another friend who was running on this day too. Expo had tons of great swag you could buy, but not too many other vendors. On race morning we took the subway in, pretty easy, and walked through a lot of security to the start. Quick and easy to check a bag and and find my corral! Great course though the main sites of Philly, but very quiet for fans until about mid-way through the half. Water stations were often surprising on a sharp corner, so you might not know they're coming. Couple of steep hills, both up and down. Soft PRETZELS and more at the finish line!!!

This was a new course in 2014 (I'd never run it before though), and it is now an out-and-back along ALL ocean! It was incredibly stunning the whole way, and actually enjoyable to see the fastest runners coming back our way - and to say hi to slower friends once I turned around. High-fives all around! But on a windy or rainy day in October, this course could be very exposed. It's all flat! And super easy to park at the start/finish.

This was the most incredible race I could have chosen for my first 26.2! It was so easy to park right at the start/finish, removing any of that stress, and my friends and family could easily travel to 4-5 locations within the loop and cheer me on. There are also tons of great restaurants and bars at the finish to enjoy! And the scenery - OH MY the scenery! Ocean, harbors, cranberry bogs, winding streets, stone walls, and much more ocean! Hilly miles 16-23, but I enjoyed it and kept high-fiving the great crowds.
