Earl 's thoughts:

The New Hyde Park 8k is well organized and the course is flat and fast. You start in front of the Denton HS just after a lovely rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. The course takes you through a few neighborhoods on its way to the L.I.E. access road. All of the mile markers have timing clocks and there were 3 water stations. The last few hundred meters are a straight shot across the athletic field an into the finish. It really is an awesome way to finish your race.
There is music and LOADS of food to eat and enjoy. There are bathrooms available in the high school for the runners and the crowd is just small enough not to make it feel over crowded. (350ppl)
The swag consists of a tech Tee. It's nice but for the casual runners, they like to get a finisher medal these days. There were plenty of trophies being handed out for top finishers, AG, Teams, Clydesdales etc. You might sneak in to an AG trophy if you have a good day.

The competition at the top is really good Men's overall was 26:18. I enjoyed the race and would definitely race there again.
