Pat 's thoughts:

Clearly one of the most unique but most enjoyable races I have done. Living in Lancaster County, the run clearly captures the feel of living in this area with the rolling farmland and Amish communities. The Amish families come out and really support the runners in a variety of ways including manning the aid stations. In addition, many families had ice out for the runners and sprinklers set up which was welcomed with the humidity. The run clearly captures the spirit of Running in the Valley of No Wires. The course is pretty challenging with several pretty good climbs but also a lot of rolling terrain. There is one small section that is off road that had some erosion. The only downside of the course was that there was some cars on the course that came into the intersections which made taking a direct route around a turn not always the easiest. All in all, it is a pretty course and really had to complete describe unless you live out this way and understand the area.

The post-race medals are awesome. You can't really appreciate how nice the horseshoe medal is until you actually get one. They are worth the price of admission. The post-race community picnic was great as well. The BBQ Ribs, Chicken, Sausage and etc is very good and enough. Plus you have to like a race that feeds the spectators as well. Crossing the finishing line, the finish area was well stocked with water, chocolate milk, cookies and other snacks. Since I had some finishing troubles, I was glad to have the chocolate milk and cookie to get my blood sugar back up.

The Friday night activities are really nice as well. My son ran the 5K and had a great time. They had a post race smores party and speaker. I did not attend the pasta/pizza feast but my brother said it was good.

The shirts were nice and they gave a whoopie pie in the bags. The expo is pretty tiny with some amish baked goods and a few other small expo tables.

The other nice part of the race was the launch of the hot air balloons.

Look forward to doing this race again in 2016.
