I was super excited to sign up for Hot Chocolate 2012. At the time, I was just getting into running, and I heard about the delicious chocolate at the finish- not to mention the fact that a bunch of my friends were running it together. The thing that killed it for me was the waiting. I estimated that I would run a 10:30 mile because I was very new and didn't want to get overrun by people. I was assigned to corral M, which didn't start until over an hour after the first corral left. What was worse was that it was November, so everyone had checked their gear and was standing in the freezing cold waiting to start. Nothing ices the muscles like standing there for over an hour, so when it did come time to run, I was pretty stiff. In addition, the packet pickup was a nightmare. I went the second day, but I had heard through the grapevine that it was taking 2+ hours to get through the expo. The experience was bad enough that I didn't sign up again in 2013. The small plus side: the hoodie is pretty awesome and I wear it all the time. The chocolate was also tres bien. Even so, based on my experience, I can't recommend this one.
