I love WDW Marathon Weekend, but with training this year, the marathon (or more) didn't quite fit in the schedule, so I went with the 10K - and am so glad that I did!
2014 was the first year for a new 10K to be added to the race weekend, and it was a great experience - on a Friday, it meant a lower cost hotel the night before, and a low stress sort of race weekend. I ran with a friend that was doing the Dopey Challenge (5K, 10K, 1/2 and full marathon) so we ran easy and enjoyed ourselves, stopping to take pictures with characters.
The only CON from this race is that the first portion of the race was kind of dark.

This race is one of my favorites, and one I'd recommend to anyone!
Here's what you need to know:
- It's a lottery race, but there are a few ways to get around that (and legit, too) - run as a charity runner, or volunteer the year before! I did just that (volunteered in 2012, for a guaranteed 2013 entry)
- You get so many OPTIONS! You can choose to get a shirt, an upgraded shirt, or no shirt (same goes for medals). It's still one of the best priced races out there (just $42), especially considering the location.
- The course is great!!
Getting in and out to the race site is easy peasy - I used metro from our hotel in Rosslyn, and there was no problem at all. The whole city comes out to cheer, and the weather is generally quite pleasant in April.
