This local race wasn’t my favorite, but the after party had great options! The course had some cobblestone, which made it hard to focus on speed. The medal I received at the end of the race was broken (they did mail a replacement!). It was simply an okay race. Nothing to rave about with the 13.1 distance.

I ran the Detroit US only half marathon as my first half marathon and I’ve been dying to go back since! It was a beautiful course and I was excited to run a race so close to home. It is a well put on event and was perfect for my first half. I loved the scenic course through Detroit, and would love to return for the international half.

The Zombie run in San Francisco was a great introduction to the elevation of California. It was a trail run along the Golden Gate Bridge trails, and it was very scenic. It was a hard course, with a ton of elevation gain. The organizers made sure to wait for every last runner, which as a back of the pack runner I appreciated. I loved getting to see the trails of San Francisco, though I wasn’t prepared for the elevation!
