I’ve run this 15K race in Seattle two times before (2015 and 2017) and while running it virtually isn’t quite the same as running it in person (for so many reasons), I thought that the race organizers did a GREAT job making this virtual experience an exciting one.

Registration was easy to navigate, they kept me up-to-date on the shipment of my participant packet, and the swag is always amazing for these races! I love this year’s finishers jacket…it’s a sporty, athletic material, amazing quality and so comfortable. Since I’ve run this race in the past, I know that my other jackets ran just a little small, so this year, rather than ordering my usual Small, I decided to size up to a Medium and it fits perfect. The finishers medals were so much fun this year, too, and included a little compartment on the actual medal that had a piece of chocolate hidden on the inside. They also included a couple packets of hot chocolate mix (which, by the way, was delicious during my post-race car party) as well as a Nuun tablet which I also used on race day for my 15k.

Race organizers also had some fun activities their Facebook page; offering participants the chance to interact with other runners doing their own “race” as well as giving away fun prizes.

Overall, I would highly recommend this race if you’ve never participated in one virtually or in-person. The real, live races are amazing — super high energy on race day, the race expo never disappoints, and it’s just a fun race from start to finish.

"Beautiful course but watch out for Queen Anne Hill!"

This race is well organized and the course is BEAUTIFUL, but let me tell you, the hill around mile 10 that goes from Fremont up to the top of Queen Anne was BRUTAL. If you know Seattle, then you know this hill is huge and it just felt like it was going on forever. The rest of the course had rolling hills and incredible Seattle views, but that last part was really tough. We did get free beer at the end, so that turned my spirits around pretty quickly... ;) I would recommend this race for the views, the challenge, and the atmosphere, but it's definitely not a "PR" course. Very well organized and great swag! The medals for this race are always terrific!

This is one of my favorite races in the Olympia, Washington area! The Capital City Marathon puts on such a great race, it's well organized, and the whole city comes out to cheer on the runners. The aid stations are my favorite...and one even includes sponges soaked in water to squeeze over your head. The community comes out for this one, too...handing out orange slices (and some hand out beer). The course is beautiful and has rolling hills with a downhill finish. This was my first half marathon in 2009 and my first full marathon in 2019. They also offer a 5 mile race with the half/full marathons and a free Kids Run the day before. I would definitely recommend it for the whole family!

"Expensive, but so worth the RunDisney experience!"

I'm a huge Disney fan and so getting the chance to participate in one of their iconic RunDisney events was a big bucket list item for me. Disney does everything right (but you pay for it...haha)...but the cost was really worth it. The expo and packet pickups were well organized and fun to attend, the swag and finishers medals were gorgeous and getting to run through the parks before the crowds were there is something I'll never forget. We had a photo pass for our vacation (so our race photos were free), but it would have been nice to have those included in the general race registration cost. If you have the chance to run a RunDisney event and you're a Disney fan, do it. It's expensive, but totally worth doing at least once. It's truly a magical experience!

This race is/was a must-do for any Seattle Seahawks fan! There were 12s everywhere (if you know, you know) and while running through the VMAC (the Seahawks training facility), the aid station was full of Hawks players handing out water. It very a very cool experience and had such high energy. I was very sad to see the race go away and hope it comes back someday!
