Overall this race was well organized. A long sleeve shirt was given as the race shirt where I would have preferred a short sleeve one being in FL. The half and the 10K started at the same time. Some had issues with parking, but I was there early enough that I did not. There was only one road leading to the Airforce Base and you had to park outside the base and be shuttled to the start. I did packet pickup the morning of the race and again had no issues as I was there early. The race was to start at 7 am but was delayed to 7:15. The 10K ran the same course as the half until they finished. They then had close to a mile walk to the post-race party set up near the half finish line. The reason I do not recommend this race is all 13.1 miles were in the sun on asphalt in FL. It was a hot, humid day with very little breeze so it got hot and uncomfortable running. Aid stations were about every 2 miles and could not keep up with water demands, but I do not think any ran out of water. Post race they had water, applesauce on ice, beer, and pizza. You could go in the lighthouse and a hangar to see some of the rockets. I will not be doing this one again due to the lack of shade on the course.

This race had all new courses and race options this year. This was the first year of the Lighthouse 5k on Friday night. This course was hillier than I expected, with a steep hill up to the lighthouse. The course was through the neighborhood around the lighthouse and started and ended at Main Beach. Grass start and finish with the rest on the road. Saturday to complete the Seaside Challenge you could choose the half or the 12K. I did the 12K. The first part was through a neighborhood and a little hilly for FL. We then entered the back of Fort Clinch and did the rest of the race in there under the tress in the shade. Which was welcome as it was hot. Start and end was again on grass at Main Beach. No sand on any course this year. Slight issue at packet pick up but they are already thinking of how to do it better and more efficiently next year. Nuun on the course for electrolytes and water at all water stops. Overall a great race and amazing medals! Highly recommend.

This was the first time this race was put on. Great race management and free race photos! Great theme! Easy to follow and well marked course. It was in September in FL in pretty much full sun for the course. It did run through Chain of Lakes park and that was beautiful. There was one small bridge you went over twice otherwise the race was flat. Lots of aid stations and each had amazing ice towels! This was a life saver on this race as the sun got higher along with the temps. There were no gluten free options at the finish though which can be a concern. 5K and 10K options were available. 10K had a bigger bridge. Overall a great first race and I would do it again.

I did this race mostly for my kids who are big Star Wars fans. I did not know half the characters on the course. They loved the 5k and the 10k. The 501st was out on the course dressed as characters and my kids loved it. The 5K was all at Epcot. The 10K started in the Magic Kingdom parking lot and you ran on the road to Hollywood Studios. From there you took the path in front of Boardwalk and in the back way of Epcot. There was one curved and slanted on ramp between Magic and Hollywood. Otherwise the course was mostly flat. The half starts in the Magic Kingdom parking lot and you run back roads to Animal Kingdom. There was one area in the dark where they had lots of flashing lights to mimic a battle and it was hard to see in the dark. Once we got to Animal Kingdom we got to run through Pandora. Then it was back on the road to Hollywood. There were a few exit and entrance ramps. Runners had 2 lanes and traffic was in another lane. There were a lot of runners but it was not too bad. From Hollywood you take the path and go in front of Yacht and Beach club this time on the way to EPCOT. You run past most of the countries in the half and finish in the EPCOT parking lot. The 501st again had characters out and Disney had some official characters and scenes from the movies you could step into. I was not worried about time just having fun. It was warm and humid as this year was end of April. Lots of water on the course though.

I did the 2 miles first in about 21 min then did the 10K. You have 30 min to do the 2 miles before the start of the 10k. The first mile of the 10K was rough after the 2 miles. Overall the course was great. Some brick and one pretty good size hill in the 10K. Lots of people in a small area for the race. Great vendors present on race day. As it is the last race of the Running Series there are more awards handed out. There is also a VIP area before and after the race. If you are part of the Running Series it is included. You can also purchase it when you sign up.
