The Teal Run benefits local hospitals in their research to find a cure for Ovarian Cancer. For the registration fee, you got a t-shirt, a pair of sunglasses, and a tote bag. There were plenty of healthy snacks for free that you could enjoy either before or after the race. There was also coffee.

It's a chipped/timed race, but participants were encouraged to walk if they wanted to. It's a family event. There were many parents with their kids either in strollers or walking along with them. There were some dogs participating too and supporting the cause with a teal bandana.

The trail goes along the river. It's a very beautiful and serene landscape. It's a paved road. Walkers stayed to the right and runners were able to go around the walkers.

There were medals for the top 3 men and women. Fun medals were given to all the kids that completed the course. The rest of the participants did not receive a medal.

There were informational booths and giveaways with prizes from local companies. Not everyone that attended the event participated in the race. You could tell that there were some people battling cancer and weren't able to walk/run, but they were there encouraging others at the finish line. I thought that was awesome!

The park had bathrooms, so there was no need for porta potties.

There were two water stations along the trail. One about half way and the other at the end of the route before you had to turn around.

Parking is limited. You have to arrive early to get street parking or walk from the Pruneyard Shopping Center.

Overall, I liked the energy of the event. Everyone was happy and having fun.

Registration fees for this race were pretty expensive for a 5/10K race. I paid $110 for my husband and I and I normally don't pay more than $40 a person.

Race swag pick-up is usually done at a sports store, not for this race. I had to go to downtown San Jose, find a parking spot, and pick up my swag at a nightclub. I was uneasy with this set-up. The ladies working that day looked up our registration and handed me my two shirts and bibs. I was in a hurry and didn't realize I got handed the wrong size t-shirt. Lesson learned.

On race day we showed up early since it was our first time doing this particular race. We were asked to park in the parking lot of Happy Hollow. It was a pretty long walk from there to the race entrance.

There were two port-a-potties at the entrance and another one along the route.
There were supposed to be 3 DJ's along the race route. I saw two and the third I guess arrived late because when he was setting up his equipment, most people had already finished the race.

There were plenty of hydration stations. The kids working those stations did a good job of being energetic and motivating the runners. They did not have any trash bags for the cups of water. Runners would take the cup and throw it on the floor as they kept running. I guess the planners overlooked this small detail.

I found the route to be boring. It was part street and part dirt trail. The 10K was two times the same route of the 5K, which is not an uncommon practice, but the route was already very uninteresting for the 5K and then you had to do it again, which was not very motivating.

My overall impression from this race was that it was weak.

This race was great! I will definitely do it again next year. The energy from start to finish was contagious. There was a DJ at the beginning and at the end. Going through the color stations and wondering what the next color was going to be was a lot of fun. It was family friendly. I saw people run/walking with their pets. Kids in strollers were fine. At the end, you got an extra color packet and a finishers medal. It wasn't a timed event. The race had mobile lockers. It was easy and cheap to store your belongings and pick them up at the end. The event was well organized.
