This is a fantastic tradition, the worlds largest 10k. The city of Atlanta goes above and beyond to accommodate this race and its participants. MARTA provides apecial shuttles from Lindbergh Station to the start line.
Water tables and water sprayers are located at just the right places to help keep runners cool, which is definitely a factor in July in the south.
You collect your medal at the expo and your T shirt at the finish. Which is backwards from other races, but its one of the things that makes this race unique.
Fair warning, this is a huge event. You'll be running with 60k other runners, but it doesn't get overly crowded until you get into the park at the finish. Still, this is a must do event if you like destination races.

This is a fantastic destination race through one of the most beautiful cities in the South. The course scenery is second to none and inckudes views of the Savannah River, several city parks as well as beautiful old homes and churches. The race directors had live bands along the course, which provided motivation and entertainment and kept the atmosphere lively for the participants and spectators.
Race registration is online and Rock n Roll does an excellent job of providing race updates. They also provide information on places to stay with links to several hotels that offer race weekend specials.
Savannah is a great place to visit and this race gives you a great reason to be there. Make sure you take a walk down River Street and don't leave without trying the pecan pralines.
Race day traffic is reportedly very hectic, so I took a shuttle to the start line and from the finish back to our hotel, everywhere else we utilized uber. This allowed us to concentrate on the race and the amenities offered by the city, rather than wasting time and energy on a sketchy traffic situation.
After the race, Rock n Roll offered a free concert, which was a great way to relax and enjoy your finish, adult beverages were available. All in all this was a great experience and we will be back again.

The Star Wars Dark Side Half was my first half marathon and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I ran as a charity runner for St Jude Children's Hospital, which I feel gave extra meaning to the training as well as the race.
Packet pick up at the expo is relatively easy, be prepared to sign a waiver and provide picture ID. The expo itself is indoors and very well done with good vendors and a lively atmosphere.
The Disney staff does an excellent job of handling the large crowd of enthusiastic runners and providing a great experience for all. The aid stations are close together, which helps ensure runners stay hydrated and fueled in the Florida heat and humidity, which can be difficult if you're not accustomed to it.
There are markers at each mile and character stations located throughout the course, which provide lots of photo opportunities, which you can take with your own camera or you can utilize the services of the Disney staff photographers. The Disney photos are professional quality and available for purchase online.
Although I enjoyed this race and the mostly flat course, I would not recommend this race if you are looking to set a new PR. The large crowds mean that you will be forced to a walk on some of the more narrow sections of the course, unless you are an elite running in the lead pack.
If you are staying at a Disney Resort they will handle all of your race day transportation. If staying outside Disney you will need to allow plenty of time for getting to the race location, Traffic is heavy and the walk from runner drop off to the race corrals is about 20 minutes.
I plan on running more Disney Races and hope to do this one again next year. I highly recommend this race, especially for those looking for a great experience to add to their Disney vacation.

This night race winds through Seminole State Park, including the camp ground. The campers decorate their campers and camp sights with illuminated displays. Christmas light displays are also positioned through out the state park. Although there are plenty of lighted displays, I would still recommend you bring a head lamp or flashlight.
This is a small race, with approximately 150 runners. The Swag was mostly state park items, and door prizes were awarded after the race. An early entry also guarantees a long sleeved cotton t shirt, featuring Frosty.
Overall this was a very enjoyable race. It's fantastic for families who love to canp, as well as those with small children. The spectators are campers as well as locals and are very enthusiastic and vocal.
I will put this one on my calendar again this year. My kids and I had a blast.

Great local race that is held on the same day as the local Harvest Festival. There is something for everyone at this race. The weather is usually cool, but not cold. The course winds through local neighborhoods. The High School Cheerleaders are at the turns to cheer you on. The race is organized and operated as a fundraiser for the Susan G Komen Foundation.
