This was my first time running the Lakefront Marathon. I definitely plan on running again. This was a uniquely Wisconsin, point to point race. It is big, but not too big. It starting a high school assures tons of parking, and you have the Milwaukee skyline to run toward as you near the finish. My only criticism is that at one aid station, the volunteers had opened the gels for you. I don’t think that I am the only one who grabs them and saves them for the time that fits in my nutrition plan. Either this is the norm (probably not, this was my 3rd marathon and had never seen this), or the volunteer was not a runner. Either way, they were a volunteer, so I just appreciate them being there.
