HF#12335 Such an efficiently run race! The information (maps, course, lodging) provided was top notch. The run itself was very pretty-you didn't feel like you were running in a metropolitan area at all. The views along the Potomac were great (and flat;)). The only thing I'd suggest is more portapotties along the route, if possible.

HF#12335 Let me start by saying I had NO idea there would be 40K runners! But let me follow up by saying the way the management, the expo vendors and the wonderful people of Pittsburgh made me feel, I felt like I was the only runner!
We stayed at the Days Inn in a kind of sketchy part of town and were concerned when there was no real direct route to the start. The folks at the expo were amazingly helpful (and patient!) with helping me and my mother (my driver) to find an easy way for me to get into the city.
I was surprised how 'un-hilly' my beloved city was for 13.1 miles so GOD BLESS the RD for the course! Especially the downhill for the last half mile:) I managed a PR! Going across the bridges was an experience I won't soon forget. There was constant cheering along the way-so much black and gold! Beautiful!
The post race corral to get our snacks and Eat n Park cookies was fantastic as was the coordination of the park for families to meet up afterwards. A definite must do!

HF#12335 This was a super flat, fast course. The parts along the beach (boardwalk) were beautiful. Being out early before it got too hot was nice. The post race food was great, and free-bonus! I didn't go to the expo beforehand but it was still going on when we were done and it was great. So many vendors! There were tons of photographers along the route and the pictures were free! You get a lot for your $35 and it benefits Special Olympics-win, win:)
