This is a cute holiday-themed race, and if you're into that go for it! If you're just looking for another race, maybe keep looking.

PRE-RACE: They had day-before and same day packet-pickup, which was great, and when I got there (about an hour early) things moved pretty quickly. There were no corrals but people were encouraged to line up according to mile/minute pace. That worked out about as well as it normally does. For a half these days, it was pretty cheap. I registered the week before and it was only about $65 and we got a 1/4 zip tech pullover, Santa hats, and a Santa beard. They encouraged everyone to wear all these things but I didn't because it was too warm.

THE COURSE: the course is out and back and runs along the sea wall for a good portion of the race. The views of the water were great...the wind (not so much). They had several aid stations throughout, but it seemed like they needed more volunteers. I totally skipped one early on because they had no water or Gatorade ready. They were also passing out cookies and m&m's at other aid stations to go with the Christmas theme. There was some music on the course but it wasn't Christmas music like I was expecting.

POST RACE: I crossed the finish line and was handed a water bottle. I had to go find my medal because they still had them in the plastic in boxes. Again, I think this was a lack of volunteers problem because they had someone handing them out, just not enough to put them around people's necks. Medal was nice though. Post race food was bananas, chips, and more cookies.

Overall, it was an okay race and if you like theme races try it out.

It was cold and rainy this year, but still a great time! The course runs all over Bryan/College Station and through the beautiful Texas A&M campus. There are some rolling hills throughout the course, too. There were about 4,000 people running the race, which is in its 5th year. It's a college town and despite the weather, a lot of college students came out to cheer us on. Post race food was great! They had everything from chocolate milk to sweet treats from a local bakery to pizza rolls and beer. I would definitely recommend it and I will probably go back to run the full.

This is a great small town race that runs through Waco, Texas. It's put on by the same people who run the Miracle Match Marathon in January and they put on a great race. They are great about communicating with participants and are rather witty which makes me actually want to read their emails. They also allowed same-day packet pick up, which was great because this race is run the weekend after thanksgiving when lots of people are probably traveling.

The course was a two loop course, which I'm not a huge fan of, but we did run through the fire station bay doors twice. The aid stations were simple--just water and Gatorade--but the volunteers were great because it was really cold this year and they stuck it out!! The finish line was awesome! There were 16 fire trucks lining the way, which really made you feel like a rock star. The medal is great--it actually has blinking lights--and I heard the RD say next years will hopefully be a police car, possibly with a siren! We also got a long sleeve tech shirt.

Overall, it was a good local race and I would love to run it again next year!
