A very, very, very small and intimate race. I think there were about 20 participants total. But, hey, a race is a race and I won! It was very funny because it was obviously a first-time event, but the people running it were sweet and wonderful, had great energy and were obviously excited that anyone turned out to participate!

It was a very confusing course through a local park, so keeping up with the map I brought with me (yes, really!) and the signs on the course was not easy. They had people stationed around the course, but they weren't always sure the right way to go. Thankfully, it seemed everyone went in the right direction every time.

Afterward, the "awards" they gave out were hilarious. I won a free month to the gym I attend (yay!) and a statue of three frogs (OK?!). I also won a free haircut.

Overall, an event my wife and I still chuckle about. I hope they come back to our area next year, as I'd love to see them again!!

A local 5K to benefit a runner who is suffering from brain cancer, the Team Bloke 5K was obviously put together by veteran runners and racers. It was run as a tight ship.

The course was set in a neighborhood, so scenery was at a minimum. I was also surprised by the hills! Caught me off guard, for sure.

Before and after the race were well-run, with an organized effort and good grub after. Parking was a breeze and getting out on time was easy as pie.
