This race is run on some of the most beautiful trails I've ever been on. Unfortunately, that's where my good experiences end and my gripes begin.

Race management for this race was a total mess. The course was poorly marked and at important intersection, not marked at all, leading to nearly 3/4 of the field missing a turn. Seriously.

The course setup well for cheaters and one of which tried to claim podium award kicking me off the podium. They finally (2 weeks later) rectified the results but I was never given an award.

Race management, mainly Salem the event owner, refused to take feedback from the event and went so far as to demand apologies from multiple people I know who gave them feedback trying to improve the event for the future.

I'd avoid this race, and any races from this company, in the future.

If you're looking to run 100 miles, across some of the highest mountains in North America... here is your race. You can't beat how beautiful it is.

The aid stations are amazing. Talk about groups of people who know how to lift the spirits of runners who are suffering.

I did this as part of the 2015 Leadman competition, and definitely had to "dig deep" to get to the finish. I am looking forward to going back to this race in the future without having raced an entire series leading up to it.

Only bummer is that this has become such a major event, that it's getting difficult to get into. 2015 was the first year of the entry lottery, and I'm guessing the odds will get worse from there. With only 800 allowed into the race, spots are scarce.

Was such a great event for my first Ironman! The event is setup well and the community really rallies around the event. Running through the campus and the stadium was awesome! Great setup for a first timer looking for a course that ins't impossible that will give them an incredible Ironman experience.
