A mug run has always been on my bucket list. I've been intimidated by the Warrior Dash, Spartan and Tough Mudders. When my mom told me about the LoziLu women's only mud run, I knew this was the race I need to sign up for.

Parking was great and although it was $12, all of that money was going back to the high school who loaned out their parking lot. Packet pickup was day of and the line was a bit long and moved quickly.

The swag was different and I loved it. Came with a canvas tote bag, sweat towel and headband. The finishers medal is kinda on the cheap side, it didn't bother me much.

All other racers were so helpful with each other on the course. There were lots of "Get it girl!" and "Go girl!" being shouted out as well has gals helping each other through some of the more challenging obstacles.

There needs to be more water stations through out the course. It's difficult to carry your own water and the first station was a mile in.

I'm already excited for the 2016 race and signing up!

Startline Racing always does an excellent job with their races and the Rose Mofford location for this part of the Going The Distance series was no different.

These races are very small, so small that I placed second in my age division! I'll still take the extra bling ;) I'm a beginner runner with about a 1 year and half of running experience and I feel these small races are excellent for beginner runners like myself. I ran the 5k portion of the race.

Running along the canal was a bit boring. Going down and back up the underpasses were challenging and a bit exhausting. My GPS signal got lost twice while under the pass too.

The tech shirts and finishers medal are nice quality. I recommend the Going the Distance series races if you are new to racing and want to have fun with no crowds of people or traffic.

It's fantastic that most of the proceeds of the 12k's race supported the Friends of Animal Care & Control in Arizona. I had no idea that I would be racing with hundreds of dogs! Made me fee like I should have brought my own pups. Seeing the dogs was cute and fun. Running into them, tripping on their leashes while racing was not fun. The course was also incredibly muddy and when I avoided the mud by running in the grass, I was scolded by volunteers.

The booths and expo were delightful and my husband and son enjoyed hanging out while ran. Parking was easy and well organized. The post race snacks were good too and my son was allowed to eat them even before the runners started coming back in which I thought was very nice.

Sock swag was pretty unique and the finishers medal is adorable. The out and back course along the power lines is boring and I don't think that will be changing as the years go on. Although I enjoyed this race, it will be a one time thing for me.

Overall, I loved this first 15k race of mine. The medal is beautiful and the expo was the best I've gone to.
Got tons of compliments on the zip up jacket and the post race chocolate was delicious.

Parking was a bit of a nightmare until the parking lot attendants were in full swing. I was stuck on the 90th St. exit from the 101 for about 20 minutes and that got me stressed out.

The first part of the course was exciting on Hayden and then the course got pretty boring. Especially the part were we went one mile out and mile back on Dobson Road. I even heard a gal running ahead of me "don't look ahead!"

Seeing lots of the other runners dressed in cool costumes was exciting.

Despite the cons, I already registered for the 2015 15k race! And I'll be dressing up in costume. :)
