This race had: NO chip-checking mat at the half-way point (just start and finish, with nobody checking to make sure people did not skip miles in the middle). NO goodie bag. NO water stations (ok, they had only THREE water stations --just water and Gu, no aid-- for an entire Half marathon), NO water bottles at the Finish. NOBODY checking on the well-being of runners along the course. NO sag-wagon in case you were hurt and couldn't finish. NO concern for runners who were clearly hurt as they staggered.
across the finish line. Course was flat, boring and the surface was at times very hard (sharp rocks for the first and last 1.5 miles), very painful on those wearing minimalist shoes. For $85, I expect a little more concern for runners. Never again.

This is a race I have run several times --only because I live here. Portland is a great city, and it is too bad that the course for this race is so damn ugly. Most of the race is a long, long stretch along an industrial area. Warehouses on one side, deserted train tracks on the other. Can we say ugly *and* boring? You get very few glimpses of how awesome Portland and its residents are... at the beginning and toward the end of the race. But most of the race is a stick-forks-in-your-eyes boring. About as boring as the t-shirt (whose design has not been changed AT ALL for EVER, because of the stubbornness of the race director). Did I say the course was ugly and boring?
