Looking for an awesome way to kickstart your Memorial Day Weekend? Then this is the race for you. Not only do you finish inside Soilder Field 50 yard line but your medal is handed to you but an active military member. Best way to finish a race. Great views along the run and managed very well. Aid stations were well manged and parking was a breeze.

It's a good thing I didn't look at the elavation map before hand. Or maybe I should have. Either way these hills were no joke. The course is a tiny bit difficult if you don't know what to expect or in my case train on hills. Most of my training happens within the city and were are blessed with zero hills. The course runs through a neighborhood in Lemont. Right away you're hit with a hill. My suggestion is to not go out to fast on that hill you have a few smaller ones and then another huge one towards the end. But don't worry it's all down hill from there, literally. One huge steap downhill then the course flattens out for about 800 meters till the finish.
They had 3 aid stations set up through out the course. Pretty well managed offering water and Gatorade.
It's a very small race, only 470 total in the 10 mile. There is a 5k option for this race as well. There is no expo for packet pickup. The race organizers have a few days of pickup at various locations around Lemont and then at the village hall on race day. Parking was easy and they had some signs and police offers directing you to spaces.
Overall it was a great race, if your looking for a challenge this is the race for you.

Great Half for first timers in Chiacgo. The course is pretty flat. In 2013 this was my first half marathon. Great course, well managed, and who can hate the view as your running up Lake Shore Dr looking at the Chicago Skyline. A lot of people stop mid race to grab a quick pic. I opted to take the shuttle bus from the loop to the race. Super easy and cuts the hassle of trying to figure out parking or how your getting there. It also gives you a good chance to talk with fellow runners. Race swag is normally a long sleeve running shirt. They also have a 5k option.
