This was a great race!! The second half marathon I've run in SF. The best thing about it was the course. We got to run across the Golden Gate Bridge!! The downside of that was we didn't run on the road, it was the side walk. It was a bit congested but it was still amazing. Great views of the Bay! For some reason when I checked out the map of the race (just the map, not the elevation chart) I didn't think it would be that hilly. I was so WRONG! Crazy hills, but what do you expect, the race is in San Francisco. Despite the hills I still ran my second best half marathon - 1:54:39. Other great views were running through Presidio Park. I have to say this is the most beautiful course I have run (so far).
Parking wasn't as bad as I would have thought. We parked in the parking lot at Ghirardelli Square. Although we did get there early so maybe that is why. The beginning of the race even had yoga, if I had known I would have gotten up earlier. The end of the race was nice too, lots of food and drinks to recover with. The chute was pretty small and the ground had some pot holes, and - this is for other runners - DON'T STOP AS SOON AS YOU CROSS THE FINISH!!! Run through because there are a lot of other runners behind you that don't appreciate running into you.
Overall I would recommend this race. Every runner should run a race across the Golden Gate Bridge!

Fun 5k for women only in Sacramento! The course is super fast and starts/ends near the State Capitol. The course (which is a 5k, but for 2014 they have added a half marathon option!) goes through downtown/midtown which is always fun because of spectators, and I just love running in the city.
Other than the race this is a "fitness festival". Kaiser Permanente sponsors this race (along with others) and proceeds go to WEAVE. Get there early and enjoy everything the festival offers, which include: BMI testing, pictures, massages, Blue Diamond Almonds, women's health info and other give-a-ways.
They also offer breakfast after the race which Whole Foods puts together - which is super yummy! I don't race many 5k's anymore but if you're just starting out running this would be a great 5k to start with. Fun times, great race and managed very well. My girlfriends and I have run it the past 2 years and I will be back in 2014.

**UPDATE** This race now has a 1/2 option!

This is the first race I broke a 2 hour half marathon. Even with all the hills! This race was very beautiful. You're pretty much running along the beach the whole time. The race starts at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, goes through Capitola and ends on the beach back near the Boardwalk.
I've never really had problems running hills so I may not be the best at judging the difficulty, but this was a hilly course. The views really make up for it though. Especially running into Capitola & through that cute little town.
From what I remember the course was managed pretty well. There is the Surfer's Path Marathon that is run with this race also. Parking can be difficult but if you get there early enough it isn't too bad.
My favorite part of this race was, obviously, the views. Ending the race on the beach was pretty cool too :)
I would recommend this race to anyone looking for a challenge (hills) and an overall fun race.
