This was the first year for the Manheim Santa 5K and must say it was probably one of the most fun runs I have done. Everything about the event was great from the cost, awards, aid stations and post-race refreshments. Instead of shirts all runners were provided a santa outfit and a hand blown glass ornament that was beautiful. Kids that were 12 and under received a santa t-shirt, hat and beard inlieu of the santa outfit. We did the race as a family. I was asked to be the grinch and ran the race with grinch mask. The course is a nice rolling course through the town of Manheim. Lots of families were out on the course which was nice.
Nearly all 600+ runners wore their Santa Costumes. It was a bit interesting at times to run in the Santa outfit but you made it work. I think everyone was in really good spirits during and after the race.
I really hope they do this race again next year.
Post-race they had a nice selection of refreshments including chocolate milk. The age group awards were pretty awesome and probably some of the nicest I have ever seen. My youngest son Marco won his age group and was given a handblown glass piece.
