Karla Robertson's thoughts:
This was my first full marathon. In previous years, I had run both the first and second half. I also live in San Francisco, so I’m very familiar with the course.
It is a challenging, decently supported race, with somewhat lackluster fan support. San Franciscan’s just don’t come out to support this race unless they have a friend or family member participating.
In 2018 there was a lot of drama around running across the Golden Gate Bridge. To be honest, I think this race is better without the bridge because it is very crowded (even on the actual roadway), and it is likely cold wet and foggy! I recommend running across the bridge on a weekday on your own, during the day. It’s the best way to experience the bridge!
