The 5K was the first race for me for the Hat Trick. It was kind of crazy because I only ran the 5K the year before and walked much of the course. I ran the 5K with my 14, 11 and 10 year old sons along with my sis-law and niece. The 5K is a great family run on a fun 5K course that is not overly challenging. After the first mile much of the course is downhill and fast. The course has two decent hills going up the bridge and right before the mile mark but then you are rewarded with a very fast 2nd mile. The course is well manned and has essentially three water stops on it. It is also great for spectators as they can see you at several spots. It was fun to actually race with my boys this year. My 10 year old finished in a 23:10, the 11 year old 23:25 and I was 23:35 (my 2nd fastest 5K and far better than my 33+ from the year before) and my 14 year old came in at 24:30. They boys really liked their finisher medals and age group awards.
