This event was my first experience running a half marathon and I am thankful to have trained for 3 months in an area that matched this hilly course. If you are a beginner like myself make sure to get some hill training in as I thought I was prepared but was faced with some challenging hills around mile 5 and at the end during mile 12. Overall I tackled them and went on to an incredible finish.
Weather- Typically this time of year the weather in the Raleigh area is perfect for running a half. Start time had temperatures in the low 50's that gradually went into the 60s by the end of the race. At least we did not see any spring showers or thunderstorms.
Aid Stations- Plenty of stops packed with volunteers handing out drinks!
Entertainment- There was plenty of entertainment thanks to all of the crowds supporting the runners along with the amazing bands which included a local school marching band playing on top of a bridge as we ran under. At the finish line right next to the Raleigh Red Hat Amphitheater is a must for all future Raleigh races to take note on. This was a perfect spot for runners to relax, take a seat, and enjoy some music.
If anyone is looking for a new event to run this one is a must and I will now make it an annual stop as long as it takes place in Raleigh.
