Andi Wernke 's thoughts:

I ran the half in Nov 2016 with 2 best friends. As a former resident of Vegas, this was my bucket list event. The expo was amazing, so big and so much to offer. The pre-race festival was great, there's even a merchandise stand there. The wait during the concert and for the last corral to start was nearly 3 hours, so be prepared for a lot of standing. Honestly, my fee hurt before I started. But the course scenery and running the Strip at Night is amazing. We had so much fun. Two major things I think need to be worked on: 1. aid stations: we were in the last corral, but an early group within that corral, to start and by the time we hit the stations, they were being broken down. Most still had water but at some we had to pour it ourselves. IMO, this is NOT OK. Aid stations should never be broken down until the last runner passes. That sends a bad message to the slower runners. My advice, be prepared and bring your water bottle with you, just so you make sure to have some. 2. Post race logistics. As a former resident, I am familiar with the city so we parked behind the LINQ, which would be near the finish when we were done. In theory, we should have been able to cross the street and get right to our car. But the strip was still closed and runners were not allowed to cross. We had to walk down to the closest pedestrian bridge (a full mile away), cross and then walk back down to the nearest monorail station to take it back to the parking lot. Again, IMO- runners should be allowed to cross the street while it is still closed. We had bibs and medals that showed we were participants. Walking another 2 miles after the event was not my idea of fun.

Aside from those 2 things, this is such a quality event. The atmosphere is amazing. We also did the 5k the night before and it was so much fun. The course is flat and easy to run, there's amazing scenery with the Strip lit up at night and the medals were awesome. I will definitely do this one again someday!
