Maureen 's thoughts:

I've done this race twice, in 2012 and 2013. 2012 I went by myself - big mistake. This race is meant for a group of all of your friends, in your German-themed costumes.

The course is nothing spectacular - just an out-and-back in Lincoln Park, near the zoo. It's pretty congested and very crowded. While the course itself is very flat, the crowds could make it hard to PR, if you were going that route.

As for the amenities, there is one aid station on the course. There are plenty of post-race snacks. You get a (plastic) beer mug at the finish. Polka music is playing when you cross the line. Shirt was a soft cotton-like tech fabric, with the cool race logo on the front. The post-race party was held at a local bar, where they had free Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer and an appetizer buffet. That was worth the entry fee alone.

There is a prize for best costume, so dress accordingly!
