I grew up in southern WV and know how hilly most of the races in WV are so when I found this race, I was thrilled to see how flat it is and the time of year is perfect because of the weather, although it often fluctuates from year to year. I got lucky and it was around 50 at the start and didn't get too hot over the almost 2 hours I was running.
The expo was good and easy to get in and out of. Parking for the race was good, as were volunteers. I found the course to be pretty scenic, especially when we were in the park portion. The colorful Autumn leaves also added to the scenery.
I loved finishing inside the stadium and being handed a small football to run to the finish line with. I ran with a pacer and he was spot-on and helped get me to my goal finish time.
The race shirt and medals were nice as well. There was plenty of food at the finish, with hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and lots of salty foods plus a beer tent.
I highly recommend this race if you're a 50-stater for your race in WV.
