I cannot say enough good things about the people who run this race! This was my 2nd year running Little Rock Marathon and there's a reason I love it. First of all, if you're going to run 26.2, make it worth it! This organization outdoes themselves each year with the medal. This year's race was pirate themed and featured a 9", 3 pound medal with compass spinner. The expo is amazing with booth after booth and guest speakers to round out your weekend.
The course itself is challenging hilly roads that wind through the city, the governors mansion, and some beautiful residences, but you might get distracted by the amazing course support. There are people cheering everywhere, a Bishop blessing people with holy water, the "couch potato mile" with couches curbside, potato chips, and plush Mr. Potatoheads, a chicken broth station at mile 20, and some very fun spectators offering up shots and beer along the way! The after party is nothing short of a street dance or block party and everywhere seems to roll out the red carpet for the runners each year.
