After enjoying year 1, it was a must to come back for year 2! These guys know what they are doing and I like the fact that they do try to keep the race smaller! This year, they did increase the number of registrations, but they still kept the cap and a reasonable number. They are growing, slowly, which works for me!

I actually didn't have to worry about packet pick up this year, as Jenny drove down the night before and get all of our stuf. Which works out good, as I wanted to park near the finish line again so that we were close to the car afterwards!

Once Jenny and I made the drive to Appleton and parked at the church a few blosck from the finish line, we started on our walk to the start line. It's about a mile walk from the finish line and we were blessed wtih slightly warmer tems that last year! Of course we had to get there early enough to grab a pre-race coffee at Copper Rock.

Like I mentioned, this a small local race and it is quickly becoming a favorite among local runners! Most of the course in through residential areas but you do get some amazing views of the river and part of the course is on the local trail. The one thing that I will say, the course has it's fair share of hills! Just when you get recovered from one and get into a rythym, another one pops up! The peksiest one is the one that you climb at mile 5.8. Yup, right before you make that last push to the finish, you have to climb a hill!

The finish line is another party! The food is all catered by the Houdini Gastopub and the veggie chili that they make is amazing! That right there is worth running the race for! Unfortunely, this year, they did run short on food and some of the runners that came in later didn't get much. They have already made plans for next year so the same thing doesn't happen again.!
