Race Management
Overall it's a great race experience for new runners, veteran runners (preferred corrals are offered for these runners based on approval via verification from submitting previous race results), families, and walkers.
Sign up is online and super easy especially if you have an existing account with Ram Racing, you can also change race distances via your online account as well.
Expo- the expo lasts two days and had a handful of extra vendors, activities for the kids, photo ops, and of course, chocolate goodies. A day before the race all participants were emailed a QR code that was scanned, and you were assigned your bib number on the spot. You also had a chance to make any modification at the solutions table as well, and that was a quick and easy process. Just note that Fair Park charges for parking, you can avoid this by either taking the DART, or paying $15 to have your packet mailed.
Race Day parking- there's plenty of parking, it's just quite the walk to the start. The lot I was seeded into, was 1.25 miles away... so I got a nice warm up and cool down. But please plan for traffic, and walking time.
Race- The 5k isn't the most scenic course, but it's marked, controlled, and easy to follow. It starts and ends in fair park so your start and finish areas were within the same area, but spaced apart. There was one water stop that also included Nuun, and chocolate. If you had family waiting, there were plenty of activities at the race site to keep them entertained while you ran. At the end everyone is given a medal respective to the distance, water, and free race photos that are emailed to you almost immediately after finishing.
Overall- this is a very well managed race that I look forward to running every year, and will continue to recommend to others.
