Kelli 's thoughts:

We won free passes to this event so had a large team of about 25 racers. We arrived early and got prime parking right next to the main building. Parking was $10.00 per vehicle and you got a sweet bumper sticker for the price. Registration was quick online and race kit pick-up had no lineups and was easy to locate. They had moved the desks outside this year and it was right at the main entrance. All volunteers dressed in a war/apocalypse theme and it added to the atmosphere. Each participant received a wristband, small knapsack that contained 'Ghost Pee' water a Canadian company, sunglasses, an archery coupon, and a nice cotton tee. There were ample washrooms available inside and racers could pay to shower inside if they did not want to use the outdoor stations. We had the 10:30 heat and headed off after a quick energy boost by the MC. Music was motivating at the start line and drew racers towards the main vendor village by the lake. There was one vendor on site (athletic wear) and racers could purchase simple food before heading home. The route had been reversed from when we had done it and this added some nice variety. There were many of the usual obstacles like overs and unders, a few crawls and some nice water sections by the lake. They added the Platinum Rig at the end for a great photo op and the bb gun rifle challenge was something quite fun and unique but it did cause a bottleneck for the racers. The giant slide is always one of the favourites although it was quite steep at the end and bonked a few heads along the way. Water was available at this obstacle but we could not find it anywhere else along the course. They awarded prizes for top Male and Female Elite (first heat) and then also for the kids version. The wooded areas were quite nice and provided some shade, however, more volunteers were needed along the course. This two-day event offered camping on site for a reasonable cost. Good communication leading up to the event and the finisher's medal is quite nice. Warm lakeside showers were nice, but most chose to clean off it the walk-in beach access. It was great! Located just north of Napanee, Ontario, it is worth the drive to head up and see what 'Casey' has in store next year. Each year is showing good improvement both with obstacles and creativity for a local non-corporate event.
