Kati 's thoughts:

This was a fun race - they heavily promoted the disco/70s theme and had plenty of people show up in costumes. There was both a 5k and a 10k. I did (and won!) the 10k. I don’t have much to say about this race other than I liked it and if it works with my schedule next year, I’ll be back!

Pros:
-Weeknight race
-Packet pick-up at a local running store – great for last minute necessities
-Race shirts – same design, different colors; you don’t get to pick what color you want but no complaints from me since I got purple!
-Separate start times for 5k and 10k
-Celebrity guest – Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover; He was an entertaining EMC
-Lots of fun and positive energy – I think the costume contest helped keep things light and fun all evening; people seemed to be in really good spirits

Cons:
-Out and back on LFT, but that’s not unusual for a small Chicago race
-I only noticed Propel at the start/finish areas. I didn’t see plain water or Gatorade.
-I took a cab to/from this race but I was lucky snagging a cab home. There aren’t many hanging out around SF or Shedd, especially mid-evening on a week night. The EL is a little bit of a walk (maybe a mile?). Parking seemed ample if you were willing to drive to the race during rush hour.
-Plastic cups at aid stations – MAJOR FAIL
