The Pittsburgh Marathon offers a full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K, kids marathon, toddler trot and dog walk. This race is very expensive, I paid $115 in January and prices increase to $135. There are plenty of great AirBnB option available in the city for less than the price of one night at a hotel.

Expo was large and the swag included a free long sleeve tech tee and tumbler. Lots of great freebies and booths to purchase items. I snagged some free Rachel Ray dog and cat food and purchased a new pair of Saucony Guide ISO.

Everything about the run was nearly perfect. Run support along the course was abundant. If bringing spectators, know corrals were locked and spectators were not allowed in the corral before the start. Bag drop off was quick and easy, a special Fed Ex clear plastic bag was provided for gear. I would recommend bringing a draw string bag to put into the clear plastic bag to make it easier to carry items after the race. Crowd support was great, scenery and course were excellent. Pittsburgh is known for it’s bridges and the half marathon course crossed 3 bridges.

The after party was large with lots of available food and recovery items, such as, bananas, bagels, cookies and water. My only complaint is that the beer tent was not free and it costs $5 per Sierra Nevada (I run for beers).
